Congratulations on your acceptance to Widener Law Commonwealth! We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions by accepted students. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any additional questions or concerns. Housing

Does Widener Law Commonwealth have on-campus housing?
Widener Law Commonwealth does not offer on-campus housing; however, there are several apartments and townhouses nearby, a few within walking and biking distance.

What housing options are close to campus?
The Widener Law Commonwealth website provides a comprehensive list of apartments in the area (see Apartment Guide).

What is the cost for apartments?
Monthly rent varies and students are encouraged to share rent with roommates to minimize the cost. The Financial Aid Package found on the cost of attendance page includes a line for Room & Board for 9 months. This budgeted amount is sufficient for student housing.

Are apartments leased for 9 or 12 months?
It varies from apartment to apartment based on occupancy rate and other factors. Students should contact the apartment offices directly to negotiate rental terms. Many of the apartments know Widener Law Commonwealth and prefer to rent to law school students; hence, many of the nearby apartments will work with Widener Law Commonwealth students.

How can I find a roommate?
Admitted students seeking roommates may connect with other students via the incoming class Facebook group, as well as utilize the Roommate List (you must sign in using your Widener credentials).

Financial Aid

Will my current year income cause me to get a lower loan amount when completing FAFSA?

Is there financial aid for Bar Prep?

Classes

How many days do PT students attend classes?
For a typical first-year, extended division (PT) schedule, please visit the part-time program page.

What time do the evening classes begin and end?
The times that classes meet each day do vary slightly from year to year. However, typically evening classes begin around 6:00 pm and end around 10:00 pm.

When will I get my class schedule and first assignments?
Class schedule, assignments and book requirements will be posted on the orientation page in late July.

When and how to I buy my books?
Detailed information about textbooks will be available on the orientation page in late July. Students either purchase their books through the Widener University Bookstore online or order books from another online vendor.

Orientation

Do I have to attend?
All new students are required to attend all sessions of orientation.

What are the dates and times?
Specific details about orientation (dates, schedules, memos, etc.) will be posted on the orientation page.

ANNUAL CAMPUS SECURITY & FIRE SAFETY REPORT
This link will take you to Widener University's website where you can view the annual report. The information in this report is provided in compliance with the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. 

myWidener (my.widener.edu) is Widener Law Commonwealth’s online portal. The great benefit of myWidener is that it is completely searchable, so whatever function you are looking for, just type that word or phrase in the search bar.

When you search, there will be two types of results:

1. Tasks – this is a single task you may complete
2. Task Centers – this is a group of related tasks if you need to accomplish several tasks within the same topic

If you have not already done so, please log into myWidener using the following steps.

1. Log in to Password Self Service. You will need your Widener ID Number. If you do not have it, please contact the Admissions Office at 717.541.3903. After logging in, click “Login ID Lookup”. The “Lookup” process should send your login information to your email account.
2. Log in to myWidener using your Widener login that was sent to your email and search for the desired task.
3. Financial Aid Award Letter, Class Schedule, Student Planning, Online Student Account, and other tasks can be viewed via myWidener as the information becomes available on the Students Services Harrisburg task center page. Financial Aid awards will be posted beginning in mid-March. Your tuition billing information will be available in June. In order to access your online bill, you will need your ID and Pin obtained by searching for “What’s My ID and Pin” in myWidener. Your tuition bill can be accessed by searching for "My Online Student Account" in myWidener.
